Since January 2008, D. Michael Collins has been serving as the elected Toledo City Councilman for District 2, a "job" which he truly loves. He views being a public official as a privilege. Public service provides the opportunity for him to give back to the community for the many blessings he received throughout his professional career in law enforcement. He is very enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to the improved governance of the City.

Toledo Blade, Aug. 26: Collins requests documentation from City
Collins asks the City of Toledo administration for documentation of all of the current loans using Section 108 Department of Housing and Urban Development funding involving the City. Landmark RE Management LLC is seeking funding assistance from the City of Toledo.

WTOL, Aug. 2: Theft of TPD lieutenant's handgun and badge
Collins comments on story of concerns raised after a Toledo Police Department Lieutenant's badge and gun were stolen from his home. He felt this was not a targeted theft, but a crime of opportunity.

WTOL, Toledo City Administrator pushing for casino permit
Collins cautions Toledo residents to not rely on the casino as a financial savior for the City. He raised previous concerns regarding legal issues with the casino project that were addressed by the City administration.
