D. Michael Collins Accepts Endorsement of Ohio Veterans United

(Toledo, OH) --- D. Michael Collins, District Two City Councilman and Independent candidate for Mayor for the City of Toledo, on Tuesday accepted the endorsement of the Ohio Veterans United, which was presented by Col. Thomas Moe, an American hero and Honorary Chairman of the organization.. .

This was an endorsement of "firsts" for both Mr. Collins and the Ohio Veterans United. It was the first endorsement for Mr. Collins in his campaign to become Toledo's next mayor. For the Ohio Veterans United, it was the first time they endorsed a mayoral candidate. "I am moved more than you can ever know --- and because I simply do not have the words --- to tell you what it means to me to have an American hero like Col. Thomas Moe endorse my campaign," Mr. Collins said.

Col. Moe is a retired United States Air Force pilot who fought in Vietnam and spent six-and-a-half years in captivity as a POW. Some of that time was spent at the Hanoi Hilton, where Col. Moe got to know U.S. Senator John McCain. In 2008, Col. Moe campaigned for Sen. McCain during his run for U.S. President.

"Ohio Veterans United needs people like Michael Collins in elected office to help call attention and deal with issues that confront all veterans," said Col. Moe. "He served as a Marine and as a Toledo police officer. He lived his career by our core values. For us this endorsement was a no brainer."

The Ohio Veteran's United is a qualified non-partisan political action committee that supports a strong military and defends traditional American values. They strongly support the fundamental principal that we are One Nation under God, Indivisible, with Life, Liberty and Justice for All. It is their mission is to educate citizens on the need to maintain a strong military and to help elect qualified veterans and likeminded non-veterans to office. Ohio Veterans United supports limited government, lower taxes, personal freedom with responsibility, elimination of government waste, responsible spending of taxpayer dollars, free-market enterprise, and the enforcement of law and order.

The endorsement ceremony was held at the Toledo Police Patrolman's Association Union Hall at Franklin and Woodruff. After the ceremony, Col. Moe held a "meet and greet" with Collins' supporters.
